Two new passenger transport services coming to Mid Suffolk

Two new passenger transport services coming to Mid Suffolk

Following the allocation of two Mid Suffolk District Council rural transport grants, two new passenger transport services will be launching in the district in November.

The Mid Suffolk Taxi Bus

The Mid Suffolk Taxi bus, delivered by Swift Taxi Cabs, will provide timetabled routes across the central and south parts of Mid Suffolk. The first two routes (a Stowmarket Circular via Thurston and a Stowmarket Circular via Bacton) are available from 1st November 2024. Additional routes including a Stowmarket Circular via Debenham, a Debenham Circular via Eye, and a Stowmarket Circular via Wattisham Airfield will be launching in the coming months.

Passengers will be able to hop on board at bus stops on route, or book a seat online in advance. Easy payment methods and simple fares offer a reliable and  environmentally friendly way to travel. There is also an opportunity for local businesses to advertise on board these services. To find out more, pop along to the launch event, and follow the Mid Suffolk Taxi Bus on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X and Tik Tok.

Rural Connect

Rural Connect is being delivered by Communities Together East Anglia. It will provide pre-bookable door to door transport in the northern areas of the district. The service utilises a fully electric vehicle as part of the fleet. It will offer an accessible and cost-effective transport option for people living in the outlying villages. These include Stowmarket, Eye, Debenham and beyond.  This will help people to decarbonise their commute to work or education, or journeys for leisure or appointments. This demand responsive transport service will launch on Monday 4th November 2024.
