Schools’ Green Skills Summit

Attention secondary schools in the Babergh and Mid Suffolk area: you are warmly invited to this free summit. Supported by Babergh and Mid Suffolk Councils and facilitated by InterClimate Network (ICN) the summit is aimed at Years 8 and 9 and will be hosted by Ipswich High School (IP9 1AZ) See this review of ICN conferences in 2023.

PART 1 Global Negotiations

In part one, country teams will debate progress towards nations’ carbon reduction targets before trying to agree more ambitious joint climate action. Guided by ICN’s COP29 resource activities and clear briefings, students:

Research and present their country pledges

Represent climate challenges and decision-making

Methodologies enhance teamwork and public-speaking, collaboration and joint decision-making. Teams prepare in advance a short opening statement to present on the day.

PART 2 Climate Action and Green Skills

The second part of the conference turns attention to our own area’s progress and actions in support of climate action and developing green skills. This includes:

Climate Question Time with a panel of lead councillors and local representatives giving a chance for young people’s questions to go directly to local decision-makers. Panel details will be provided beforehand.

Climate Action and Green Skills Fayre of active organisations invited to show their work and answer questions about developing skills and taking action.
