Call for employers to inspire young people

Employers, we invite you to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of your community. We want your expertise to help inspire young minds at high schools across Babergh and Mid Suffolk. Your experience and insights can make a significant difference in the lives of our students, helping them to understand the diverse career opportunities available and to ignite their passion for their future careers.

How You Can Help:

  1. Offer Work Experience Placements: Provide students with the invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in your industry. This practical exposure can help them develop essential skills and understand the day-to-day realities of your profession.
  2. School Visits and Career Talks: Share your career journey and insights by visiting local schools. Discuss what it’s like to work in your industry, and the challenges and rewards, and skills required to succeed. Your stories can inspire and motivate students to pursue their dreams.
  3. Task Days: Host “task” days focused on specific areas such as advertising/marketing, production, etc., to give students a practical understanding of different roles.
  4. Advice & Slice: Participate in lunchtime career talks where you can offer advice and share your experiences in a relaxed setting.
  5. Mock Interviews and CV/Application Advice: Engage with students through mock interview sessions and provide valuable feedback on their CVs and applications.
  6. Site Visits: Arrange visits to construction sites or business premises, especially for students enrolled in related courses like BTEC engineering, to give them a real-world perspective of their field.

Get Involved:

Your involvement can help bridge the gap between education and the workplace, providing students with the knowledge and inspiration they need to make informed career choices. We can advise, support, and introduce you to interested schools.
