Celebrating events and festivals in the Heart of Suffolk
In the Heart of Suffolk, you’re never too far away from a wide range of colourful events and festivals to enjoy throughout the year.
There is no better way to celebrate the arts, culture and food of a place then by meeting up with friends or family and exploring what’s on offer.
If you fancy a festival suitable for everyone, you won’t be disappointed with Primadonna, taking place at The Food Museum in Stowmarket. This started out in its early years as a literary festival by a group of forward-thinking female professionals in the entertainment and publishing industries. It now features a programme packed full of film, music, literature, comedy, food, drink and DJs. Close by is the Weird and Wonderful Wood Festival at Haughley Park. The family event offers something for everyone, bringing artists and craftspeople from all over the country to share their love of wood and the creativity that grows from it.
Located in the beautiful Suffolk Countryside, Stonham Barns provides events throughout the year. Visit country music festivals, car, truck and motorcycle shows, antique fairs and history re-enactment shows. And located not too far away is Helmingham Hall, with its illuminated light shows, outdoor cinema, garden fairs and theatre events.
LeeStock Festival is a large scale music festival held in Long Melford in memory of young local musician Lee Dunford. Proceeds are donated to the Willow Foundation and other local causes. Kentwell Hall pioneered Tudor domestic living history events in the UK and 30 years later these events are still magical. It runs Dickensian Christmas events, plus one of the scariest live action Halloween experiences in the East, ScaresVille. You’ll also find events like the Magic Weekend and time travel History Festival.
Bures Music Festival is a fantastic, fun and diverse event also taking place in the Heart of Suffolk. Since its beginnings as ‘Jazz by the Stour’ in 1997, the festival has hosted some of the biggest names. This unique festival supports a multitude of musical genres. Enjoy jazz to blues, rock to pop, plus a popular choral night.
