Your old laptop could make a huge difference to someone!

Back in October Community Action Suffolk (CAS) launched a new laptop recycling project for now unused laptops. CAS cleaned and upgraded them, securely dealt with any data on them and then made them available to others at very reasonable prices. The project’s aim, made possible through their trading subsidiary IT Services at CAS Ltd, was to help with a number of key objectives, including:

  • to reduce laptop waste in local recycling centres
  • to increase digital inclusion in Suffolk, providing low-cost devices to people who otherwise may not otherwise be able to afford them
  • to help donors with their corporate social responsibility (donating old devices to a charity that supports Suffolk’s Voluntary sector)

The project has been a tremendous success, and CAS are now looking for organisations who’d like to partner with them, to be first port of call for their old laptop donations. They only accept laptops that meet their minimum specification, and they ensure all data is destroyed in line with data protection laws and WEEE regulations.

If you are an organisation who has devices stored away now, which will potentially meet their minimum specification (Intel Core I5 Processor/AMD Equivalent, Minimum 4GB RAM, able to power on, includes compatible power adaptor, no significant damage) or will have in the future, then please email matthew.morling@communityactionsuffolk.org.uk or call 01473 345321.
