Many of the accommodation establishments featured in our list of where to stay in this lovely part of Suffolk on this site have been inspected and quality assured by either our national tourist board VisitBritain (VB) or the Automobile Association (AA). The ratings listed range from one to five stars with one star being “simple, comfortable, no frills” and five star being “exceptional with a degree of luxury”.

The Silver Award (VB) or Highly Commended (AA) is given for exceptional quality at all levels and the Gold Award (VB) or Inspector’s Choice (AA), is gven to the very “best of the best” in self-catering holiday accommation, bed and breakfasts and hotels.

Some establishments take part in the National Accessibility Scheme for holiday cottages and serviced accommodation for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility.

These are awarded categories one to four with one being “typically suitable for a person with sufficient mobility to climb a flight of stairs, but who would benefit from fixtures and fittings to aid balance” and four being “typically suitable for a person who depends on the use of a wheelchair and who requires assistance”.
