Mid Suffolk Light Railway will be hosting their annual ‘Middy in the War Years’ event, on Sunday 30th April and Monday 1st May.

Britain’s railways played a major role in the war effort  and the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway was no different, coming into its own after 1942 when the USAAF moved into the airfields at Mendlesham and Horham.

This annual event has grown from small beginnings to become one of the largest events in the Middy calendar and along with the many visiting displays and vehicles, we are joined by a number of quality reenactors who help create a great 1940’s atmosphere.

The Middy hopes to be joined once again by the RAF’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (weather permitting).

The Mid-Suffolk Light Railway tea room will be open for refreshments along with the real ale coach, and while dogs are very welcome, owners should be aware that will be a number of loud bangs over each day that may be distressing for your pet.
