Friday, 31st of March sees the launch of the first ever Lavenham Easter Art Trail where over 50 pictures will be on display throughout the medieval village of Lavenham.
Pictures will be framed and exhibited in nearly all the shops and restaurants in Lavenham and people will be able to collect a special trail map and search out the colourful works of art to make a note of their favourite entries. The two categories receiving the highest number of votes will win prizes and in addition, their work will be used to create greeting cards to be sold in the church shop to raise funds for Lavenham pre-school.
People who vote will also have the chance to win a prize.
The trail runs from 1st to 13th April inclusive. Trail maps can be picked up from A J Heeks the Grocers, Lavenham Church, the Tourist Information Centre, the Guildhall and the library. Voting boxes can be found in these locations.
All the artworks will then be exhibited for one week in Lavenham church from 15th April – 22nd April.
The Rev’d Stephen Earl said: “This is a community event to bring all ages together in a creative and fun way. It’s also a good opportunity for the Easter message to reach everyone, whether artist, hosting business or indeed the people following the trail.
We really want to encourage everyone to join in and be a part of this creative initiative!”
